5/22/2018 José Bautista, NYM, RF
Bautista has signed with the Mets two days after being released by the Braves.

Analysis: Bautista's name still carries some weight, though he went 5 for 35 with 12 strikeouts in 12 games before being shown the door by Atlanta on Sunday. Still, the 36-year-old, two-time home run champion does fill a need in New York for an outfielder capable of producing against left-handed pitching.
5/22/2018 Steven Souza Jr., Ari, RF
The Diamondbacks have placed Souza on the 10-day disabled list with an aggravation of a previous pectoral injury.

Analysis: The Diamondbacks may now be regretting the decision to let Souza pinch hit in Monday's loss at Milwaukee, as they could have backdated the DL stint to Saturday. Either way, the injury has clearly been a significant issue for the outfielder, who's coming off a 30-homer season with the Rays in 2017. He missed all of April after initially hurting his chest in spring training, and he's 7 for 43 (.163) with one extra-base hit since returning.
5/22/2018 Joey Wendle, TB, 2B
The Rays have placed Wendle on the paternity list.

Analysis: The rookie second baseman could miss all of Tampa Bay's three-game series with Boston that starts Tuesday. To fill the roster spot, the Rays have called up infielder Willy Adames, the team's top prospect who'll make his MLB debut as the starting shortstop in Tuesday's opener.
5/22/2018 Dee Gordon, Sea, 2B
Gordon has been diagnosed with a fractured right big toe and placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Analysis: Gordon may have sustained the injury when he fouled a ball off his foot at Toronto on May 9, but was playing through it until the Mariners decided to give him some time to heal. The AL leader with 16 stolen bases, he had just switched from center field to second base in the wake of Robinson Cano's 80-game PED suspension. Now the Mariners will have to replace two very important regulars at key positions.
